German Government to Partner EMDI For Rural Electrification
The Nigerian and German Governments have a bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GIZ (an experienced service provider that assists the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation) is implementing an Energy Policy Consultancy Project which provides advisory services to Nigerian partners on topics such as rural electrification, energy efficiency and renewable energies. Having learnt of the unprecedented breakthrough recorded by EMDI in Small Hydro Power Turbine Technology with the successful development and deployment of a 35KW SHP, a 3-man Technical Team (whose names are Mr. Felix Nitz, Mr. Jannik Miller and Mr. Olatunde Isiolaotan) from GIZ paid a 2-day working visit to EMDI on 12th and 13th March 2014. The purpose of the visit was to establish a relationship/collaboration with EMDI in the Area of Small Hydro Power Technology in order to aid Rural Electrification. The team was highly elated to realize the huge potentials and capabilities of the institute and promised to fast-track the collaboration by paying another visit in a no-distant future.
