This is commonly an alloy of carbon and silicon. It is produced in EMDI with both the rotary furnace and recuperative rotary furnaces. Products generated from the cast iron include; Channel grating of various sizes and weights up to 200kg, Pulleys of various sizes, Bull gears, Bassey weights, detachable joints used in coupling water pipes, Bends (used for connecting water pipes) of various sizes, Table vices and other cast iron machine parts. Cast iron can also be alloyed to produce varieties of feed mill machine parts like worms, pepper grinding plate and elevator slippers where wear resistance is desirable on the castings.
