On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, a team of engineers from the Manufacturing Services Department, led by Engr. Joseph Oladimeji Alasoluyi , Head of Manufacturing Services Department, exhibited the Maize Dehusking and Shelling Machine at a sensitization and awareness program organized for farmers by the Ondo State Fadama & Ondo/NG-CARES project at the Fadama House, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State.

In his opening remarks, the Administrative Secretary/Project Coordinator of the Fadama & Ondo/NG-Cares Programme, Mr. Olusiji Olatunji, warmly welcomed participants to the occasion and highlighted the project’s notable achievements in supporting a significant number of farmers within the state with grants and inputs. He emphasized that the project’s activities are demand-driven, and farmers are encouraged to submit projects that will be vetted for viability and relevance to the Fadama projects.

The Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive (Mrs. Fausat Olumide Yusuf (MNIM MBA), represented by Engr. J.O. Alasoluyi , addressed the participants, informing them that EMDI is engaged in research, consultancy services, and capacity building. He further highlighted EMDI’s development and production of the Maize Dehusking and Shelling Machine, which was displayed to participants, as part of the agency’s (NASENI) 3C’s agenda. He ass ured participants that a trial would convince them of the machine’s efficacy.

A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on the Maize Dehusking and Shelling Machine was delivered by Engr. (Mrs.) Olanike Taiwo Oni of the Manufacturing Unit, Manufacturing Services Department. This was followed by an interactive session where participants (farmers) asked pertinent questions, which were professionally addressed by Engr. J.O. Alasoluyi and Engr. O.T. Oni. Subsequently, the machine was operated to demonstrate its functionality to participants, showcasing its efficiency and effectiveness in maize dehusking and shelling

The event drew to a successful close with a group photograph, sealing the newly forged connections and partnerships. As participants exchanged contacts, the stage was set for potential collaborations, future business relationships, and a continued exchange of ideas and expertise. A representative of the farmers, Mr. Pelumi Temenu, appreciated the team of Engineers from EMDI and promised to collaborate with the Institute for possible business transactions.
