On Wednesday, 30th October 2024, the Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI) hosted a grand ceremony to welcome back Team EMDI-Akure from the NASENI Annual Games held in Kano State. The event commenced precisely at 12:06pm with the recitation of the National Prayer. This was immediately followed by the introduction of the Management Staff and the Semi-Finalist Champions, Team EMDI-Akure. In her welcome address, the Overseeing Officer, Mrs. Fausat Olumide Yusuf, MNIM, MBA, commended the determination and commitment demonstrated by the team at the NASENI Annual Games 2024. She praised the team’s resilience and performance, expressing confidence that by the grace of Almighty Allah, they would bring home the trophy in the 2025 edition. Her address highlighted the significance of teamwork, dedication, and the spirit of sportsmanship that the team exhibited throughout the competition. Amidst an atmosphere of excitement and pride, the Overseeing Officer presented letters of commendation to the members of Team EMDI-Akure. These letters recognized their commitment, dedication, and the outstanding representation of EMDI at the games. The presentation ceremony was marked by enthusiastic applause and cheers from the attendees, reflecting the collective pride in the team’s achievements.
The Chairman of the Institute’s sports contingent, Engr. John Olowonubi, presented the bronze medal, won by Mr. Ojo Adetunji in the table tennis tournament to the Overseeing Officer. In a moment of pride and celebration, Mrs. Yusuf adorned Mr. Adetunji with the medal, recognizing his exemplary performance and contribution to the team’s success. Engr. John Olowonubi delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the Overseeing Officer and her dynamic management team for their unwavering support and commitment to the sports initiatives at EMDI. He emphasized the importance of such support in fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork within the Institute. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph at exactly 1:12pm, capturing the joyous and memorable moments of the event. The group photo symbolized unity, pride, and the collective achievements of Team EMDI-Akure.
