The Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI), a leading research Institute under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), played host to a high-level delegation from Advanced Aerospace Engines Laboratory, Oka-Akoko, a Center under the National Space Research and Development Agency on Wednesday, October 17, 2024. The team, led by renowned engineer and researcher, Engr. Dr. A.F. Lawal, Head of Research and Development, was received by Engr. Joseph Oladimeji Alasoluyi, Head of Manufacturing Services Department, representing the Overseeing Officer, Mrs. Fausat Olumide Yusuf (MNIM, MBA) who was away on an official assignment. In his welcome address, Engr. Alasoluyi underscored EMDI’s commitment to advancing engineering materials research, development, and application, emphasizing the Institute’s focus on innovative materials development, product design and development, capacity building and training and consultancy services. Engr. Dr. Lawal expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the visit is made to explore synergy for research and development collaboration, identify areas for joint projects and knowledge sharing. The delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour of EMDI’s state-of-the-art facilities, including Advanced Foundry Workshop, Pattern Making Shop, Research and Development Department’s Laboratories, Design, Modelling and Simulation Unit and Manufacturing Workshop. A technical meeting followed, where experts from both organizations engaged in in-depth discussions on potential collaborations and research partnerships, joint project proposals and funding opportunities, knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives. The working visit concluded with a group photograph, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between EMDI and Advanced Aerospace Engines Laboratory.
